The name DevLoL stands for "Developer Lab of Linz" with intentional reference to /dev/lol (hardware devices) and "lol" (the fun part).

Started as a loose group in may 2012 and it's the third or fourth attempt for a hackerspace in Linz. In December 2012 we created an official organization and in August 2013 we moved into our rooms at Hofgasse 19, in the old town of Linz.

Weekly meetings are on Thursday evenings, a monthly Linux User Group meets every first Wednesday. DevLoL has taken part in CCC events since HAR 2013.
