[edit] About Labitat
Labitat is a Copenhagen-based hackerspace. The housing contract was signed early December 2009, and the space is currently being initiated.
We hold weekly meetings / hack-nights as well as workshops to draw in new members. See for instance our recent Arduino workshop.
[edit] What is Labitat?
Labitat is steadily growing group of people who are looking to do a lot of making and tinkering with both technology and art. Composed of people of different tongues we aim to provide a friendly and creative setting, where we opt for english as soon as needed. If you think this sounds appealing and you're residing somewhere in or near Copenhagen, you should check out Labitat!
[edit] Labitat on the 'net
As it says on the right, you can find our main page on https://labitat.dk/. Currently it's a wiki, but a well organized one.
If you feel this is something for you, you may sign up and utilize your membership on this page: https://labitat.dk/member/
If you're a social networking kind of person, you will find Labitat represented on the following services:
[edit] Accomplishments
We have monthly newsletters on our members mailing list, detailing the progress of Labitat. We have also held weekly Tuesday meetings in the last several months with very few exceptions, and we have had several work days, getting our IT infrastructure up and running.
We also hold workshops where we introduce and teach people how to work with technology. See below for our first workshop!
[edit] First Buckler Workshop
See our page on the subject here
On the 25th of October 2009, Labitat held a free workshop to help people learn about electronics and how to program and solder. We had a day long session where those who signed up in time got to make and program The Buckler, as explained below.
[edit] The Buckler
The Buckler was created as a teaching platform for use in a digital electronics workshops that take beginners from introduction to soldering and programming, to a working stand-alone interactive module.
It has taken the form of an Arduino shield with the following main components:
- Nordic Semiconductor nRF24L01+ RF tranceiver
- Analog Devices ADXL345 three-axis accelerometer
- three-color 8x8 diode array
The Buckler uses breakout boards from Sparkfun for the SMD components, so everything that needs to be soldered is through-hole.
We've uploaded some early demo videos, and will keep uploading as new demo apps are written.
Below are pretty pictures from the day of the event.
