StudentRND inspires students to learn more about science and technology.

Why? When learning how to ride a bike, the majority of people learned by trying over and over again until the skill has been mastered, not by reading a textbook, listening to a lecture, or watching an educational video. Thus, when learning about science and technology, students should be actually applying the knowledge they learn and asking more questions. Science is about inquiry.

Sounds great, but how do we do it? Much like there are libraries for people interested in reading, and sports fields for those interested in sports, we run a workspace in Bellevue where students can learn from our volunteers and classes as well as working on many cool projects. We provide students with all the latest tools, as well as make connections to local businesses to bring in specialists.

The StudentRND workspace is absolutely free (we're a non-profit funded by donations and grants) and everyone is encouraged to drop by, including non-students!

We're open Wednesdays from 2-7, Saturdays from 12-7, and by request if you have a large group coming to work on something.

[edit] Projects

Our donors provide us money to finance student-run projects. If you're a student with an idea for a project, talk to us about what you need and we can get it started - you do the work, we'll handle the financing and business (plus, you keep the IP). Some examples: PVC Robotic Pipe Organ, Plasma Speaker, Surface Computer, etc.

If you're interested in helping with a project, either as a mentor or a member, let us know.
