The Foundation is a hackerspace based in Christchurch, New Zealand. It has been in operation since August 2013.

More information can be found on the mailing list. Upcoming events can be found on Meetup.com.

History[edit]

For about 18 months through 2009-2010, Spacecraft (originally known as The Christchurch Creative Space) operated at the Canterbury Innovation Incubator as a place for people to hack, craft, make, create and work on projects.

Spacecraft was wound down in 2010 after active membership dropped. Following the February 2011 earthquake, access to the Canterbury Innovation Incubator was lost.

Towards the end of 2012, efforts were made reboot the hackerspace with more resources and a better venue.

A new name, The Foundation, was chosen and the inaugural meet-up took place on August 18, 2013.
