[edit] Beginning
Thessaloniki GNU/Linux Lab Hackerspace was founded at 21st of May 2007, the starting day of the 1st Biennale of Contemporary Art of Thessaloniki. As a part of the project Post Programmed Territory / Farkadona it was the projection of the GNU/Linux Lab of Farkadona built by repatriated, from the former Soviet Union, Greeks at 2006. The location of the first lab was inside Thessaloniki Port.
[edit] Growing
At 2008, after a brief period of non-existence, it was moved near Thessaloniki Port, at the address Ptolemies 7, where Thessaloniki Linux Users Group was re-born after an inactive period of 6 years. Between 2009 and 2011 the hackerspace was located at Papanastasiou 18 str. From 2009 the NGO Greek Linux Users Group - GNU Greece supports it and organises various activities like:
- Hardware hacking and pc fixing
- Flame discussions on FLOSS topics
- Small beer & barbeque fests
- Various seminars for members
- Library with floss & hacker books
[edit] Present
Currently it's located at Egnatias str. 98, Pilea at a larger and better equipped space, with a 12 pc's computer lab, hack table and brainstorming living room.
